The Camp Indie Dream Team

We thought you might like to start getting to know the Camp Indie team members! You’ll get to meet us all in person soon, and we can hardly wait! Meanwhile, here’s a little bit about each of us. As you’ll see, we all share your love of freedom and travel!

Travis Sherry: Visionary & Co-founder

In 2012, Travis was living in Japan and wanted to travel more, but found it very difficult on a teacher’s salary.

He started learning about frequent flyer miles, and in a few short years, he had earned millions of miles and traveled to dozens of countries.

Travis started Extra Pack of Peanuts and co-founded Location Indie to share his knowledge with the world while creating an online business that he could run from anywhere, even the beach in Thailand.

Trav is super excited to welcome people to the world of location independence through the online community and especially through in-person events like Camp Indie!

Lily Fouts: Integrator & Project Wrangler

Lily’s location-independent adulthood is simply an extension of her fugitive childhood when she spent 5 years hiding in Mexico (true story; you’ll learn more at camp!).

While she is no longer a fugitive, Lily and her husband are still on the move, dividing their time between a home base in Mexico (in the same town where she lived as a child), a motorhome in the U.S., and visits to other countries. They have tagged all seven continents.

Lily wears various hats at Location Indie (in keeping with her love for variety), mostly as integrator (integrating the various aspects of the business) and project manager, making sure nothing falls through the cracks! She loves the LI live events most of all. She’s stoked to see you in person soon!

Mellissa de Oliveira: Community and Social Media Manager

Mellissa is the Community Manager at Location Indie, as well as a Business Empowerment and Marketing Coach. Some would say her super power is helping create clarity and confidence around using social media and video. Hence why she is our Social Media go-to expert!

She got her career start as a documentary producer for a series airing on PBS, and has been helping people share their message and mission with the world ever since – from politics, to philanthropy and non-profits to small business.

Mellissa wears lots of business hats but she can currently be found in the Location Indie community, running it like a pro and heading up most of our live community events. You’ll also find her on our Location Indie Instagram page!

…So that’s us…we can’t wait to see you face-to-face at Camp Indie!

Q & A

Q: What is the weather typically like at Club Getaway in mid-June?

A: Kent, Connecticut, experiences a humid continental climate, characterized by warm summers and cold winters. In mid-June, you can generally expect mild to warm temperatures with occasional humidity. The average high temperatures range from the upper 70s °F (around 25°C) to the low 80s °F (around 27-28°C), while the average low temperatures range from the upper 50s °F (around 14-15°C) to the low 60s °F (around 16-17°C). However, it’s important to note that weather conditions can vary from year to year, and there may be deviations from the average temperatures. It’s a good idea to check the local forecast closer to camp for the most accurate and up-to-date information.

Q: I bought my ticket already, but now I want to buy a cabin upgrade and/or a drinks package. Can I do that?

A: Yes, if you already have a ticket and want to buy an add-on, you can buy upgrades here: https://my.locationindie.com/checkouts/camp-indie-upgrades/
